Bard Debate calls the 2011-2012 Year to a Close!

Nearly all members of the 2011-2012 Bard Debate Union gathered at coach Jennifer Rankin’s home on Friday night, May 11th, to celebrate the conclusion of an incredibly successful year, to bid farewell to our graduating seniors, and reflect on all that we have accomplished together. Indeed, the Bard Debate Union enjoyed one of its most successful years to date, sending over 25 Bard debaters to 12 tournaments across the country and winning 23 total awards! The team also hosted six public debates on campus this year and organized and hosted the first annual Bard Middle and High School Debate Tournament in March. So, at the conclusion of the year, we celebrate not only all that we have accomplished (and all of the awards we have won:) but also all of the people that have made this possible: all of our hard working debaters; student coach Michael Luxemburg; coaches Jennifer Rankin and Chris McIntosh; faculty adviser Ruth Zisman; and Vice President and Dean for Civic Engagement and International Affairs Jonathan Becker. We also want to thank Director of Admissions and Vice President for Student Affairs Mary Backlund, Associate Director of CCE/Dean of Student Affairs Erin Cannan, and Dean of Studies David Shein for their continued and sustained support of our debate program. Congratulations to everyone on an amazing year! It is with great excitement and high expectations that the Bard Debate Union looks forward to 2012-2013!
