The Bard policy debate novices, Anna Daniszewski and Max Taylor-Milner, traveled with faculty adviser, Ruth Zisman, and student coach, Michael Luxemburg, to West Virginia University this past weekend (March 3-5) to compete in the elite Novice National Championships. In what turned out to be an incredibly competitive tournament with top novice teams from across the country, Anna and Max pulled off an impressive 5-2 record in preliminary rounds and entered elimination rounds as the 3rd seed! They lost their octafinal round in a very close round against Binghamton University and ended the tournament tied for 9th place. Anna was also named 11th overall speaker and Max 6th! Congrats to Anna and Max for an absolutely amazing novice year of debate (advancing to elimination rounds at every single tournament they attended) and to student coach, Michael Luxemburg! There is no question that Anna and Max are ready for varsity debate!
