Arab Spring Public Debate is Huge Success (Sept 29, 2011)!

The Bard Debate Union welcomed the Lawrence Debate Union of the University of Vermont to Bard College on Thursday. September 29th to debate a very important issue: the involvement of the United States in the Arab Spring. The Bard debaters were Caroline Stone, Hanze Song, and Lee Gensler and the moderator was Rory Mondshein. The motion for the debate was: “This house believes that the United States should actively support democracy efforts in ‘Arab Spring’ nations.” Not only were both the Bard and UVM debaters outstanding at presenting their arguments, but the audience was engaged and interested and had many good questions for the debaters after the debate. We had over 50 audience members all of whom seemed to greatly enjoy the debate. Thank you to the Bard and UVM debaters and coaches for working so hard to make this debate a huge success!
