Competitive Success Continues at UVM Tournament (Nov 2-4, 2012)!

On the weekend of November 2-4, 2012 the Bard Debate Union traveled to Burlington, Vermont for the 2012 Huber Debates. As a group of 20 people (5 worlds teams, 2 policy teams, 3 student judges, and 3 coaches) this was officially the largest Bard contingent ever to attend a debate tournament in Bard’s history! And the success did not end there. Worlds team of Lee Gensler and Ian Busher advanced to Quarter-finals as the 13th seed out of nearly 90 teams! Policy team of John (JJ) Jeworski and Max Taylor-Milner earned an impressive 4-2 record in prelims and finished the tournament tied for 5th place. JJ was also named 8th overall policy speaker. We also had 6 worlds novices attend the tournament who all earned quite impressive records given the level of competition. It looks like Bard Debate has a lot of promise in its future! Go Bard Debate and congrats to all of our debaters, judges, and coaches who made this weekend a huge success!
