On Friday, October 12th the Bard Debate Union together with the Center for Civic Engagement hosted two exciting events as part of Bard’s Family Weekend programming: First, a faculty roundtable on the state of presidential debates today (with Jonathan Becker, Walter Russell Mead, David O’Connell, and Ruth Zisman; moderated by David Register); second, a mock-presidential debate! For the debate, we had three debaters represent Obama (Lenny Simon, Stephanie Presch, Theo Lowrey) and three represent Romney (Saim Saeed, Robert Isaf, Eva Prost), each of whom were responsible for addressing a given policy issue. The debate was moderated by Bard debater, Connor Gadek. Not only was the debate packed full with detailed analysis and factual information (refreshing for a presidential debate!) but it was also tremendously entertaining! Family members and students alike were laughing through the whole thing (in a good way:) Congrats to all of the Bard Debaters who helped to make this a remarkably memorable event!
