On Friday, 28 February 2014, the Bard Debate Union together with the Center for Civic Engagement hosted the Third Annual Middle and High School Debate Tournament at Bard. We hosted nearly 80 students from Red Hook, Rhinebeck, Kingston, and the Bard High School Early Colleges in Manhattan, Newark, and Queens. The students had 3 debates on topics ranging from weapons of mass destruction to smart phones to extra-terrestrial life and government secrecy. We concluded the day with an awards ceremony in which we recognized the efforts of all of our participants and gave awards to the top placing speakers and teams in both the Middle School and High School divisions. It was a great day had by all and a day that would not have been possible without the hard work of the Bard Debaters and coaches. Thank you to everyone who made this day possible. Go Bard Debate!
